Thing "10"

Seems like I anticipated what the final “thing” would be and already started discussing it in “thing 9”. In my last post I praised my library (SSPL) for trying to stay on the cutting edge of technology and finding ways to keep the staff current and informed as well. I do see libraries in general taking on different roles to better serve their communities. As patron’s needs change so should the institutions that are designed to help them. Libraries in the future will hopefully develop and always be able to meet the needs of its patrons. However, I don’t ever see books becoming obsolete regardless of how convenient, small, cheap, easy, etc…ereaders may become. I feel some people will always desire the actual feel of a real book in their hands and the satisfaction of reading it the way man has for centuries.

I would like to thank you Polly for the very interesting and informative time I had each week as I followed along from “thing” to “thing”. I hope to use what I learned to move forward in the tech world along with my library and continue to serve the public the best way I can.
